The “R” means racing, which means that the Civic Type R has been conceived to be a fast car. Therefore, this can be utilized and entered in professional racing competitions. Consequently, the Type R engines installed in every car must be able to meet the expectations laid down by the manufacturers. The technology applied in designing the engine for the R series is new and very few information regarding its functions are available.
Honda relied on the Civic Type R to create interest when it participated in the Formula One races. The Civic CRX SiR was equipped with features such as the B16 engine together with the helical LCD, which was also present in Honda’s future models. The interior of this car had to be conformed as it lacked the luxuries that you would see in a normal passenger car.
